NIGHTWOOD: A Drag King Competition | Curated by Sarah Zapata

NIGHTWOOD

A Drag King Competition

Named after the legendary Djuna Barnes novel, Nightwood: a whimsical, gothic lesbian narrative from 1936, but also to be double entendre for an evening with DRAG KINGS. As a means to stimulate pride in lesbian history and a dying out performance art, Nightwood brings in members of the lesbian and queer community to perform, reclaim masculinity, and engage with our peers. The kings will be invited to create their own persona, create an act of either: singing, stand up, poetry reading, lip syncing, dancing, then one king will be crowned the winner and win a large percentage of the door.
